Jun 10, 2011 Trade

Chile and the European Union (EU) Thursday signed cooperation agreements on tourism, industry, the standardization of norms and principles, and information exchange among enterprises.

The agreements were inked by Chilean Economy Minister Juan Andres Fontaine and Vice President of the European Commission Antonio Tajani, who is currently on an official visit to Latin America.

The agreement on tourism is aimed to promote the flow of visitors between Chile and the EU in low seasons, so as to benefit local economies.

On the issue of industry, Chile and the EU hope to promote direct cooperation in transferring technology and technical knowledge, in order to gear up the application and adaptation of products.

Regarding the standardization of norms and principles, both sides are seeking to ease the export process between their markets.

The agreement related to the exchange of information among enterprises, meanwhile, allows for the exchange of good practices and projects, which will help both sides develop, innovate and internationalize.
