In an important development for the Visakha Container Terminal (VCT), a Hanjin Shipping vessel made its maiden call at the facility last week subsequent to the line joining the INDFEX2 consortium.

According to Exim News Service, Hanjin had recently become part of the INDFEX2 consortium and taken over the vessel, m.v. Kota Puri (the one which called), which will now operate under Hanjin charter.

With Hanjin joining, the service has been extended to Busan, South Korea, in addition to the existing routing of Singapore and China.

In a brief ceremony held on board to mark the occasion, VCTPL presented a plaque to Capt. Camara, Master of the vessel, in the presence of Capt. Sindhwani, President, and Mr Freddy Kurien, Vice-President of Contfreight Shipping Agency (I) Pvt. Ltd, the agent for Hanjin Shipping.

Capt. Sindhwani stressed that Contfreight and VCT would work closely to facilitate growth in volumes at this emerging East Coast gateway and promised to extend all support.
Mr Kurien pointed out that Hanjin was now giving a choice to customers to use another premium carrier out of this developing market.

Capt. Camara said that it was a happy experience calling at Vizag as all the people he had interacted with were cordial and helpful.
