Exactly two years to the date (November 24) of the flood at the APM Terminals (APMT) in the Port of Itajai, Brazil, the CSAV vessel “Hammonia Roma” arrived, starting the first operations at the newly constructed Berth No. 2.
Part of CSAV's Marco Polo Service (Eastcoast of South America to Middle East), the vessel, with a length of 210 m, discharged 505 full containers and 159 empty units, apart from loading 358 full containers.
APM Terminals in Itajai now has Berth No. 2 available for ship-to-shore operations as well as Berth No. 1, on which work was completed earlier. In addition and until 2012, APMT also has priority berthing rights at either public berths 3 or 4 of the Port, where vessels will be operated using mobile harbour cranes.
