SOUTH Africa's Competition Commission has referred allegations against the airlines to the Competition Tribunal with a suggested fine of 10 per cent of annual local turnover for airlines under investigation.
British Airways, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Air France-KLM, Alitalia SpA, Cargolux and Martinair face charges for cartel behaviour from 1996 following a rise in jet fuel prices, reports Johannesburg's Business Report.
Collusion on fixed cargo rates on particular routes for air cargo in and out of South Africa is alleged against Lufthansa, Cargolux and Air France-KLM.
