Tideworks launches intermodal TOS

Apr 7, 2010 Logistics

Tideworks Technology has launched Intermodal Pro, a comprehensive terminal operating system (TOS) for intermodal terminals. The system includes intuitive graphical tools and flexible user-driven reporting, enabling more efficient loading and unloading of trains, whilst boosting productivity and reducing operational costs.

As more intermodal terminal operators replace legacy systems, the company designed Intermodal Pro by evolving its Spinnaker Planning Management System to fit the specific needs of intermodal terminals.

The system offers automated planning tools to accelerate loading, unloading and gate operations while also maximising space utilisation. The system’s reporting tools and a centralised network topology, allow operators to centralise planning, equipment tracking and gate operations from multiple terminals.

An electronic data interchange (EDI) engine and translator make it easy for terminals to exchange sensitive information with customers, partners and back-office systems. With the use of the Traffic Control module, automated container movement instructions can be transmitted to equipment operators via a graphical interface, while real-time 3-D views give terminal operators instant visibility of the status of container moves, container inventory and the location of all handling equipment.

“Over the years we’ve seen an increasing need for an easy-to-use graphical planning and terminal operating tool for the intermodal market,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks Technology.

“Our expertise with marine terminal operating systems, as well as our experience with intermodal ramp operators, has enabled us to develop innovative solutions designed specifically for intermodal terminal operators, allowing them to reach their productivity goals and achieve an attractive ROI.”
