Drewry HK-LA weekly spot rate off 4.9pc March 14, down 6.3pc year on year

LONDON shipping consultants, Drewry, has set their Hong Kong-to-Los Angeles FEU spot rate at US$1,693, a 4.9 per cent weekly drop on March 14 from the $1,781 per FEU the week before, and 6.3 per cent lower year on year.


The Drewry rate has fallen steadily since hitting $2,838 per FEU on August 1 when carriers levied a peak season surcharge. But such eastbound rates only apply to 10 per cent of cargo as most is priced in annual contracts.
