President of Flanders (Belgium) Kris Peeters, President and General Director Uwe Bakosch and representatives of ports and transportation and logistics companies visited the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”.
During their visit the guests discussed with the management of the group the issues of business cooperation and interaction with Belgian companies, got acquainted with ro-ro terminal on the territory of the First Stevedoring company (part of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”.
During the meeting the President of “Finnlines” Uwe Bakosch noted that starting from October 28 Saint-Petersburg will be connected with English port Hull. This transportation route will be supported by three ferries of Birka type. In Saint-Petersburg these ferries will be handled at berths of the First Stevedoring Company.
Extension of the route Bilbao-Antwerp-Helsinki up to Saint-Petersburg in the end of August of 2010 by “Finnlines” will make it possible to increase the handling volumes of ro-ro cargoes at the terminal of the First Stevedoring Company up to 8 thousand tons every month.
