Agricultural park attracts $2 bln investment in E China fair

An agricultural park in east China's JiangsuProvince has attracted two billion U.S. dollars worth of investment during the on-going trade fair, organizers said Tuesday.

 

The park in YangzhouCity features in organic and sightseeing agriculture. It attracted enterprises from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea to sign 35 contracts worth of more than two billion U.S. dollars, said Zhang Aijun, Yangzhou vice mayor.

 

All the investment will go to the projects in the park which was founded by Yangzhou government and Taiwan businessmen two years ago, Zhang said.

 

The 2009 Flowery March International Trade and Tourism Festival of Yangzhou runs from April 18 to May 18. As one of the events, a technological innovation exhibition on April 18 attracted 1,200 people including Nobel prize winner Yang Chenning.

 

Yangzhou has stepped up improving investment environment and boosting investors' confidence amid the financial crisis, Zhang said.

 

Enterprises adhering to state industrial policies are welcome to Yangzhou. The government will give favorable treatment to these enterprises in terms of financial and technological assistance, land supplies as well as tax relief, he said.
