Real estate industry a main area of China's investment in Lithuania

By the end of 2008, China's accumulated direct investment in Lithuania amounted to about 3.9 million USD, of which $1.49 million had been invested in the real estate industry, accounting for 38 percent of China's total investment in the country.

This is according to China's Ministry of Commerce from the Department of Statistics to the Government of the Republic of Lithuanian.

Other major fields of China's investment in the country include the wholesale, retail and food and beverage industries. Investment in the food and beverage industry stood at about $1.02 million, making up 26 percent; and wholesale and retail was about $890,000, or 23 percent.

Additionally, investment in the logistics sector was about $420,000, accounting for 11 percent and other industries totaled around $80,000.
