A spokeswoman with China Leather Industry Association said Friday the adjusted policy on rawhide processing trade does not involve fur products.

The association's spokeswoman Yang Hanxue said under the new policy, the customs duty and value-added tax are exempted for imports of rawhides and skins (HTS: 4101-4103) which are to be converted to leather products and re-exported. The original scheduled expired date is extended.

Imports of semi-finished leather (HTS: 4104-4106) which are to be converted to finished leather are also exempted from customs duty and value-added tax.

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC), Ministry of Environmental Protection and China Customs jointly issued the new policy on March 13. It took effect on the same day.
