Macao taps long-haul markets at Berlin travel trade show

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government Tourist Office (MGTO) Wednesday announced that it has sent a delegation to participate in the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin 2009, with the aim to tap more overseas markets.

The theme of MGTO's booth at ITB this year is Experience Macao!, showcasing UNESCO world heritage The Historic Center of Macao as well as the new tourism products to the travel trade and consumers of the region, according to a press release from the MGTO.

Held at the capital of Germany, ITB Berlin has a history of 43 years, and is hailed as one of the largest travel fairs in the world. During this year's event, held from March 11 to 15, about 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries and regions participated in the exhibition.

MGTO said it aims to uplift the reputation of Macao at large-scale international travel fairs to tap more overseas markets and promote connections between travel trade partners.
