The European Commission issued a statement on March 4 saying it would launch a sunset review on anti-dumping measures for China's silicon metal that has been in place for 19 years.
The investigations were applied for by Euroalliages and the European Users of Silicon Metal (EUSMET).
The European Commission initiated anti-dumping investigations against China's silicon metal in February 1989, and decided to impose an anti-dumping duty of 198 euros per ton on the product in July 1990.
Following two sunset reviews, these measures have now been in place for 19 years. The anti-dumping rate is presently at 49 percent.
