Arwin Mehta, president of the Plastindia Foundation, said consumption of plastic products are set to double by 2012 in India, so there is considerable scope for growth of plastics industry in the country.
Thus the continued effort for trade expansion between India and China assumes a significant role for strengthening the bilateral trade between these two countries, he said at the welcome speech of the India-China Plastics Industry Summit 2009 held at the Indian capital.
The conference, organized by Plastindia Foundation and the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, has the theme of business opportunities and trade complementation and is aimed at increasing bilateral trade between the two countries from 38.7 million U.S. dollars in 2007 to 60 million U.S. dollars by 2010.
Liao Zhengpin, President of China Plastics Processing Industry Association, said China's plastics processing industry will increase anti-risk capacity, world-wide competitive edge, independent innovation and brand development in the coming few years.
We also aim to establish a notable progress in localization of technical equipment for important industries to foster a range of backbone enterprises. Our local capacity expansion would significantly enhance the value addition for trade into diversified markets, he said.
Plastindia Foundation is membered by India's major associations, organizations and institutions connected with plastics including government and semi-government organizations.
