Proctor and Gamble sued for copyright infringement

Recently, Founder Electronics filed a lawsuit against Proctor and Gamble (Guangzhou), claiming that the latter used Founder fonts on the exterior packaging of its products, including Rejoice shampoo, without the authorization of Founder Electronics, thereby violating the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China. At present the case has already been accepted by the People’s Court in Beijing Haidian District.


Founder Group claimed that without the authorization of Founder Electronics, Proctor and Gamble (Guangzhou) used the Founder fonts Qian style and Cartoon style on its exterior packaging, product labels, product trademarks and publicity materials for 55 products it produced, including Rejoice shampoo, violating the copyrights of the Founder Electronics font collection. Therefore, it filed a lawsuit against Proctor and Gamble (Guangzhou) and Carrefour Beijing, claiming damages of 1.478 million yuan.
