People can exchange foreign currencies at non-banking sites from now on, Beijing Morning Post reported, citing the Beijing Administration Department of Foreign Exchange under the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
The first chartered site was established at the Beijing Capital International Airport.
Trials of chartered individual domestic and foreign currency exchange business were launched in Shanghai and Beijing on Wednesday. Two companies won chartered currency exchange nameplates from the regulator.
With the establishment of chartered currency exchange site at the airport on Wednesday, people will enjoy a more flexible exchanging currency time. Its business hours are basically 24 hours and can exchange 16 kinds of currencies.
The chartered currency exchange sites are also expected to be established in travel agencies involved in overseas tourism, financial street and Central Business District (CBD).
