WB Financially Helps Vietnam Combat Poverty

Jul 30, 2008 Trade

The World Bank (WB) will provide Vietnam with a preferential credit of 150 million U.S. dollars, mainly helping the country develop business, foster social inclusion and better manage natural resources.

Under an agreement signed in Hanoi Tuesday by representative of the WB in Vietnam and the State Bank of Vietnam, the credit will be used to fund a poverty reduction program aimed at implementing Vietnam's socioeconomic development plan in the 2006-2010 period.

Specifically, the credit will be used to support actions to restructure the state sector and promote business development, foster social inclusion, better manage natural resources, and facilitate governance reforms in such areas as public financial management, public administration and legal and judicial development.
