First National Market for Arts and Crafts Launched in Fujian

Jun 24, 2008 Trade

The first national craftwork expo was inaugurated Saturday in Quanzhou city, Fujian province of southeast China, the China News Service reported.

Nearly 1,000 dealers from around the country brought numerous sorts of crafts, including life-sized woodcarvings of Buddhists, delicate porcelain wares and stone carvings.

The organizer set up a special exhibition hall for rare crafts from Taiwan. The exhibit served to bridge the gap in industry-level trade and interaction between Taiwan and the mainland, the article said.

Artists from Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China, also attended the expo to exhibit their works.

Quanzhou, whose production value of artworks reaches 23 billion yuan (about 3.34 billion US dollars) in 2007, is one of the top artwork manufacturing cities in the world. Its art products are well-received both at home and abroad.
