Bangladesh's garment export in the first 10-month of the current fiscal year (July 2007-June 2008) marked on average a healthy 15 percent growth over the same period of the last fiscal.
According to statistics of Bangladesh's Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) released Thursday, the country exported garment items including knitwear and woven worth 9.58 billion U.S. dollars in the July-April period.
EPB statistics showed knitwear and woven garments, two major items of Bangladesh's export, recorded 20 percent and 10 percent growth respectively.
The knitwear and woven garments exports constituted nearly 76 percent of Bangladesh's total 11.65 billion U.S. dollars export in the July-April period.
Garments occupied more than 76 percent of the country's 12.18 billion U.S. dollars export earning last fiscal year ending June 2007.
