TRADE between Heilongjiang province, a northeastern China province, and Russia, valued US$570 million in January, increasing 15.7 per cent year on year, accounting for 10.2 per cent of the Sino-Russian trade, Xinhua reports.
Exports from Heilongjiang to Russia valued $350 million, up 35.8 per cent. Import value grew 58 per cent to $220 million.
Last year, provincial trade with Russia was valued at $7.5 billion, an increase of 35 per cent year on year. This year, the province is trying to optimise the import and export structure by shifting its efforts and support to emerging industries like hi-tech, machinery and electronic equipment while keeping the growth in conventional exports such as garments and farm products. Meanwhile, the province will increase imports of advanced technologies and equipment, as well as timber, crude oil and chemical fertiliser.
