Malaysia to take part in private label trade fair in Netherlands

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will be leading a Malaysian delegation to the "World of Private Lable" trade fair held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from May 24 to 25.


MATRADE said in a statement on Tuesday that the renowned retail trade fair in Europe allows buyers and category managers to buy private label branded goods for supermarkets and department stores from Europe and other countries and contract with suppliers worldwide.


"MATRADE will organize a Malaysian pavilion for Malaysian suppliers looking at the ever-growing private label market in Europe and beyond.


"At 'World of Private Label' 2010, Malaysian companies conducted negotiations for goods valued at 1.3 million ringgit ( 426,229 U.S. dollars)," said MATRADE.


Noharuddin Nordin, MATRADE chief executive officer, said in the statement that the annual trade fair was a special event open only to established buyers who are interested in sourcing and contracting for products.


He said that Malaysian manufacturers and exporters wishing to expand their markets should participate in the event as they could interact with leading international buyers of considerable purchasing buyers.
