6 Indonesian firms to join int'l packaging expo in Germany

Six Indonesian companies are scheduled to participate in the Interpack 2011, the largest packaging industry expo, in Dsseldorf of Germany on May 12-18, an executive said on Thursday.


Gernot Ringling, managing director of the Interpack 2011, the organizing company, said that the event would draw 2,500 companies and more than 200,000 visitors.


The Interpack 2011 will also present various topics in the packaging industry.


Indonesia's packaging industry market is expected to reach 4.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2011 from 4.1 billion dollars in 2010, an official said Thursday.


Henky Wibawa, executive director of the Indonesian Packaging Federation, told reporters that the domestic market has been increasing year-by-year.


"In 2005, the domestic market was 2.5 billion dollars and increased to 3.9 billion dollars in 2009," said Wibawa.
