Vietnam shipped overseas 6.3 million tons of rice in the first eleven months of this year, up 12 percent year-on-year, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Monday.
During this period, Vietnam earned nearly three billion U.S dollars from rice exports, presenting an increase of 18 percent year-on-year.
Local analysts said Vietnam's rice export value was high due to the increase in rice price in the world market.
Vietnam's rice export average price in the first eleven months reached 467 U.S dollars a ton, up 4.6 percent year-on-year, as world price is on upward trend, said the ministry.
In 2009, Vietnam raked in 2.56 billion U.S dollars from shipping 5.75 million tons of rice in the first eleven months, down 5.8 percent in value and up 33.5 percent in volume against the previous year, the General Statistics Office said.
