QINZHOU, the nearest Chinese city to an ASEAN country - Vietnam - posted a 24 per cent increase in trade value with the trading bloc to US$298 million in first three quarters, reports Xinhua.

Vietnam is the city's largest trading partner with a value of $240 million, growing 29.2 per cent in the first three quarters. Petty trade in the border areas of the city increased 89.2 per cent per cent to $160 million.

Qinzhou is closest gateway for middle and western China to access ASEAN markets. Most of its imports are zero-tariff items among the 7,000 from the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area whose operations commence from the first of the year.
