The Vietnam-Spain Investment and Business Cooperation Forum opened Tuesday in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City, drawing representatives from 127 Vietnamese companies and 30 Spanish firms, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The forum was co-organized by Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade and Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, according to the report.
The forum provided a chance for the businesses of the two countries to seek cooperation opportunities in a variety of areas including architecture and urban consultancy, agriculture, automotive components, electronic systems and energy and construction, as well as engineering, fashion retail, metallurgy, footwear, technological services, textiles and water treatment, said the report.
During the two-day forum, there will be meetings and seminars among companies from the two sides, according to the report.
Last year, Vietnam-Spain bilateral trade value reached 1.43 billion U.S. dollars, down 17 percent year-on-year due to impacts of the global financial crisis, according to Vietnamese official statistics.
However, in the first seven months this year, the two countries saw a growth of six percent in bilateral trade revenue, bringing the two-way trade turnover in the first seven months to 650 million U.S. dollars.
