Manzhouli-Mongolian trade value up 58.8pc in 8 months

FROM January to August, Sino-Mongolian border city Manzhouli's customs recorded a border trade value of US$1.9 billion, up 58.8 per cent over the same period last year.


Import value surged 63.5 per cent to $1.7 billion. Export value grew 15.7 per cent to $140 million, according to Xinhua.


Export cargo consisted mostly of agricultural produce and light industrial products. Imports were mostly logs and crude oil.


During this period, vegetable exports increased 24.1 per cent to $37 million in value, representing 26.6 per cent of the customs border export value total. Shoe exports surged 150 per cent to $18.3 million, taking up 13.4 per cent of the total. Imported wood logs valued $540 million, up 14 per cent, accounting for 30.5 per cent of the customs' border import value total. Crude oil imports valued $200 million, taking up 11.3 per cent of the total.
