Indonesia on Wednesday opened its 25th trade expo to promote non-oil and gas products, MetroTV reported in a live event.
Trade Minister Mari Elka Pengestu in her opening speech said that the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) has a strategic function in elevating national branding.
"Now, we raise theme of 'Remarkable Indonesia', to show that we are not only rich of natural resources but we have also qualified products with international standard," said Pangestu.
She also said that the country's export has been flourishing in the last 5 years with various diversifications.
"For years, export of oil and gas products has been dominating our export, now it they only account 24 percent of our total export," she said.
Pangestu also stressed the need of expanding market to non traditional markets in developed countries such as the United States, Japan and European countries.
"We must expand our market to emerging markets," said Pangestu.
