THE Ministry of Commerce has launched an investigation into suspected European Union export subsidies in the potato starch industry, said a government communique.
The investigation - the first of its kind against the EU - was prompted by complaints from China's Tuber Crop Starch Sub-Association, which sought an investigation under import, export and tax regulations.
Based on Chinese law, the ministry will look into the margin of the subsidies in EU potato starch imports and assess the damage done to the domestic industry.
