ASEAN and China to enhance economic co-operation

STRENGTHENING investment and co-operation in shipping, ports and logistics became the highlighted topic at the fifth Pan-Beibu Gulf (PBG) Economic Co-operation Forum held between 12 and 13 Aug at Nanning, the capital city of China's Guangxi autonomous region, reported Xinhua.


Other keynote topics at the forum include: (a) setting up the Nanning-Singapore economic corridor, and (b) establishing a system of highways and railways that connect Nanning, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.


The PBG economic co-operation zone, established in July 2006, consists of China's Guangxi, Guangdong and Hainan provinces, as well as some ASEAN member states including Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
