No change in Iran's oil exports: official

Aug 17, 2010 Trade

An Iranian oil official said Monday there has been no change or decrease in the country's oil exports due to the recent sanctions imposed on the country over its nuclear program, local satellite Press TV reported.

"In the current circumstances we see no unnatural or specific situation in the process of oil exports of our country," Mohammad Ali Khatibi, Iran's envoy to OPEC, was quoted as saying.

"The world needs Iran's crude," Khatibi said, according to the report.

According to latest figures published by OPEC, Iran exported around 3.7 million bpd of oil in July.

In July, EU foreign ministers and the United States approved tougher sanctions against Iran over Tehran's nuclear program, including restrictions on investment in new oil and gas fields or technical assistance to oil and gas development.
