MACAU's exports in the first half of 2010 totalled MOP3.62 billion, (US$460 million), indicating a 7.1 per cent less year on year, according to data released by the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau.
Domestic exports fell 33.2 per cent, while re-exports increased 12.8 per cent against exports in the first half of 2009.
The total value of imports increased 20.9 per cent to MOP20.48 billion (US$2.56 billion).
The balance of trade deficit in the first half of the year totalled MOP16.9 billion with a 29.3 per cent year-on-year increase.
In the first half of 2010, the value of exports to Hong Kong was MOP1.64 billion and to mainland China was MOP585 million, up 18.9 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively. Value of exports to the US was MOP385 million and the EU was MOP201 million, falling 52.6 per cent and 47.1 per cent respectively year on year.
The value of exported textiles and clothing was MOP770 million, falling 48.9 per cent against the same period of 2009.
The value of goods imported from China in the first half of 2010 was MOP6.30 billion and from EU was MOP4.44 billion, rising 20.4 per cent and 25.1 per cent respectively, against the same period of 2009.
The value of imported consumer goods surged 40.4 per cent, in which the imported value of passenger cars and motorcycles increased 122.6 per cent year on year.
