Philippine President Benigno Aquino III on Monday assured the international community that the Philippines will fulfill its international commitments and become an exponent of the rule of law to make the country an attractive investment site.

Addressing foreign dignitaries, government officials, and employees at the 43rd Association of South East Asian Nations ( ASEAN) Foundation Day at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Aquino vowed to honor all international obligations that his government would enter into without compromising national interests.

"A Philippines that harmonizes its national interests with its international responsibility is a nation that can earn and maintain its dignity and self-respect, whether on a bilateral or a multilateral level,"Aquino said, adding "we can achieve this by making sure that our country is a predictable and consistent place for investments."

He also said that his government is more conscious of its commitment to fostering improved ties with its Southeast Asian nations.

Aquino said his administration will do its part in the long process of creating a more binding commitment to the group's mutual economic and political interests.
