FRENCH carrier CMA CGM's PEX3 Asia-Gulf of Mexico service will begin calling on Alabama Port of Mobile and Busan in Korea from May 20, a statement from the company said.
"With these additional calls, the group is now offering excellent port coverage for its customers in south east Asia, south, central and north China as well as Korea," said Alain Schmid, deputy vice president of CMA CGM's North America Lines.
With the new destinations, CMA CGM intends to provide its customers wider port coverage and "best transit times" between Asia and the US Gulf Coast where it is the only carrier to offer direct services.
The new port of calls will also open the North China market via Busan transshipment hub and provide another port of exit for US exporters with access to the French carrier's Middle and Far East port calls.
The new PEX3 rotation is: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Shanghai, Busan, Panama Canal, Manzanillo, Houston, Mobile, Miami, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston, Tangier, Jebel Ali and Singapore.
