SHANGHAI'S trade value increased 38.8 per cent year on year to US$54 billion in March, up 11.5 per cent compared to the same month in 2008 before downturn, Logistics Week reported.
Export value rose 20.4 per cent to $30 billion, up 0.7 per cent compared to March 2008. Imports surged 71.6 per cent to $24 billion, up 28.9 per cent over 2008.
From January to March, Shanghai's trade value amounted to $145 billion, up 38.6 per cent year on year, and 4.1 per cent over the same period in 2008.
Exports increased 26.6 per cent year on year to $87.3 billion, dropping 1.1 per cent against the same period in 2008. Imports jumped 61.8 per cent to $57.7 billion, up 13.1 per cent over 2008. The trade surplus dropped 11.1 per cent year on year to $29.6 billion, down 20.6 per cent over 2008.
