THE National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) is to run a one day conference on the implications of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) at the Crown Plaza Mutiara Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on April 26.
Part one of the programme from 9am to 2pm will focus on the conference theme: A Strong China - Implications and Challenges investigating the growing concern of cheaper Chinese goods flooding domestic markets in Malaysia.
Prime minister YA Bhg Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad will give the keynote speech, sharing his perspective on the growing economic might of China. This will be followed by a question and answer session.
The morning conference will cover impact of the ACFTA; developments from East Asia including economic integration, and China's military power and regional stability.
The National Exporters Seminar, organised by NCCIM and the Exporters Club, from 2pm - 5pm will include a session on opportunities for exporting to non-traditional and emerging markets introduced by the ASEAN and Australasia Unit deputy director Haridass Nagalingam.
