Chinese equities fell Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 2.34 percent, or 70.86 points, to end at 2,960.47.

The Shenzhen Component Index slid 312.17 points, or 2.50 percent, to close at 12,193.16.

Combined turnover rose slightly to 190.81 billion yuan ($27.94 billion) from 187.56 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
