With the development of electronic commerce (e-commerce), the number of Internet businesses has increased rapidly in western China, according to news from an Internet business forum held by Alibaba, a famous e-commerce Internet business, and China's Chongqing Municipality.
Nearly 400,000 businessmen from Chongqing Municipality do their business on the Alibaba and Taobao websites.
Although the e-commerce industry began much later in China's western region than in other regions, the number of Internet businesses has increased rapidly. In 2007, Internet businesses from Chongqing Municipality joining Alibaba increased at a rate of one business net per day, said Wei Zhe, CEO of Alibaba.
He added that although the development of e-commerce in China's western region lags behind other regions; there are advantages in manpower existing in China's western region. If we make use of the e-commerce effectively, the western region can break the bulwark of bad transportation and lagging information to have considerable prospects.
