Hong Kong goods exports grow 15.4% in Jan.

Hong Kong reported a 15.4 percent increase of goods exports and 16.9 percent rise of imports in January on a year earlier, the Census and Statistics Department said here Thursday.


According to the Census and Statistics department, the volume of goods re-exports rose 16.1 percent in January but domestic exports fell slightly by 1.1 percent.


On a seasonally adjusted basis, the goods exports in the three months ending January rose 3.5 percent, of which the re-exports grew 3.7 percent and domestic exports rose 0.5 percent.


According to the department, Hong Kong's exports to China's mainland remained robust in January, with its export volume to the Chinese mainland surging 23.1 percent on a year earlier.


Hong Kong's exports to world's major economies varied in January, showed the latest statistics. Hong Kong's exports to Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom grew 12.7 percent, 6.8 percent and 0.6 percent, compared with a 5.3 percent drop in its exports to the United States.
