Jiangsu imports keep growing in first four months

EASTERN China's Jiangsu province has kept up a consistent import growth in the first four months of the year, Xinhua reported.

Provincial import value fell 22 per cent year on year to US$11 billion in April but increased 6.2 per cent compared to the month before. February's import value rose 25 per cent over January's, while March's figure was 22 per cent more than February's.

From January to April, Jiangsu's cumulative import value fell 29.8 per cent year on year to $36.5 billion.

Value of imports under general trade was $3.9 billion in April, only $130 million less than its historical high. The cumulative value in the first four months fell 10.5 per cent year on year to $13.1 billion.

Processing trade value fell for the ninth consecutive month in April to $5.2 billion, down 32 per cent. The cumulative value from January to April plunged 39 per cent to $17.3 billion.
