From July 1, the surcharge will apply to all shipments where the bunker adjustment factor is included in the rate or is fixed. The move is in response to rising bunker prices.
"Shipments where the BAF is separated and floating will not be affected by the emergency bunker surcharge," the carrier said in a statement.
Zim plans to review the emergency bunker surcharge each month, after bunker reached $400 per ton recently after falling below $200 per ton earlier this year.
