NCR appoints DHL to manage service parts Hong Kong hub

Jun 24, 2009 Trade

DHL has signed a new contract with the global technology NCR Corporation for DHL Supply Chain to manage a new 15,000 square feet service parts hub in Hong Kong and provide express and freight transportation throughout Asia Pacific, to support a network of NCR's warehouses.

Until now, service parts replenishment in the region for the NCR's product portfolio, which includes point-of-sale terminals, automatic teller machines, check processing systems, barcode scanners and business consumables, has been primarily supplied from locations in the US and Europe.

NCR service parts in Asia Pacific will now be warehoused and distributed directly from the DHL logistics hub in Hong Kong, in a bid to enhance the speed and quality of service support NCR provides its customers.

"Service parts logistics is critical to NCR's ability to deliver the right part at the right time at the right place," said NCR service parts vice president Nancy Daniels. "By partnering with DHL, we're able to put the parts our customers need closer to the end of the runway. This will enhance our speed of response, which in turn, supports improved system availability for our customers."

This latest win builds on DHL's existing service parts network with NCR in countries such as Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan and Thailand, and is followed by the launch of several initiatives undertaken by DHL to strengthen its network in Asia Pacific this year. This includes the launch of key gateways in Incheon, South Korea and Taipei, Taiwan. DHL also recently bolstered its intra-Asia express fleet with the addition of a new Boeing 747 servicing the Hong Kong-Singapore trade lane, a statement from DHL said.
