New harbour dues system for sea-going vessels

May 15, 2009 Shipping

As from May 6th 2009, the Port of Rotterdam Authority introduced a new harbour dues system for sea-going
vessels. This new system serves two objectives:
- Possibility to differentiate the tariffs according to various segments in the market
- Improved flexibility in a dynamic environment
The introduction of the new harbour dues system will, in principal, not lead to changes in the total amount of harbour dues to be paid (using a range of +/- 2%). The calculation method that is used for determining the harbour dues is different in the new system.
