Guangdong's general trade grew 10pc in first quarter

SOUTH China's Guangdong province posted 10 per cent year-on-year growth in case and luggage export value to US$1.1 billion in the first quarter, with its dominant proportion shifting from processing trades to general trades, reports Xinhua.

Provincial case and luggage export value resulting from general trade stood at $570 million in the first quarter, up 26.2 per cent year on year, and accounting for 51.8 per cent of total luggage export value. The figures also marked the first time when provincial general trades exceeded processing trades, bringing the processing sector value down 13.2pc year on year to $420 million.

Provincial case and luggage export value comprised 41.8 per cent of the nationwide amount in the first quarter. Its March amount reached $430 million, rising by 30.8 per cent year on year and by 89.6 per cent over February.
