CSCL doubles China to US east coast all-water service

May 8, 2009 Shipping

SHANGAI's China Shipping Container Line (CSCL) is to double up its vessels on its existing Asia America East 1 service and add a Norfolk call to promote its services for shippers distributing in the mid-Atlantic and the Midwest, said vice president for North America Joe Alagana.

The port rotation will be serviced by eight 4,020-TEU ships on an all-water service via the Panama Canal, stopping in Manzanillo on entering and exiting the canal, reports American Shipper.

The fixed day weekly services rotation is: New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yantian and New York. Its overall transit both ways from Yantian to New York and Miami to Shanghai is to be 23 days.

The move mirrors the company's former partner CMA CGM's move to adjust services to link in with Maersk shipping.
