YICT launches Yantian to Xiaolan barge express

 

YANTIAN International Container Terminal (YICT), in cooperation with Zhongshan Port & Shipping Enterprise Group, has launched a shuttle barge service from Yantian to Xianlan, says Logistics Week.

Under the operation of Zhongshan Port & Shipping's unit, Xiaolan Port Cargo Transportation Related Co, the group will service factories in and around Zhongshan's Xiaolan Town, an area with many large electronics, appliances, hardware and furniture manufacturing facilities.

These goods will be barged to YICT, which is said to be more convenient, cost-effective and eco-friendly than trucking. Manufacturers will also benefit from speedy batch transport for Yantian Dapeng customs clearance.

A 118-TEU barge will be deployed from Xiaolan Port Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with a 16-hour overnight transit to Yantian. The barge will then head back to Xiaolan the same day. Additional vessels covering Zhongshan and Shenwan ports will be deployed once cargo volume increases.

Once containers arrive in Yantian, they will be distributed to frequent international shipping services linked to markets worldwide.
