From the first vessel to fastest turned-around vessel to largest parcel-size vessel to largest vessel, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has been an integral part in Mundra International Container Terminal’s (MICT) re-cord-breaking spree, Exim News Service reported. The terminal, thus, has had a long-standing partnership with the international container shipping giant.
Recently, MICT and MSC achieved yet another landmark when m.v. MSC Michaela, with a length of 303.93 metres, became the largest vessel to berth at the Terminal.
With capacity of 6,724-TEU and 12.8-m draught, the vessel berthed smoothly, thanks to the expertise of the Marine Department. The vessel exchanged 1,876 TEUs in 14 hours of operation, achieving some of the highest equipment productivity benchmarks.
MICT had very recently handled m.v. CMA CGM Debussy, which has a length of 300.5 metres.
According to Mr K. Krishnadas, CEO of MICT, "the deployment of large capacity vessels by shipping lines is testament to the trade’s confidence in the ever-improving performance of MICT."
