Mr CC Tung, Chairman and CEO of Orient Overseas International Ltd (OOIL), has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs), held in Hong Kong on April 22, 2009. The award was presented by Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is decided by Cargonews Asia's international network of editors and correspondents, and is given to an individual in recognition for his outstanding contributions to the transport and logistics industry over the years, showing both leadership and commitment to the development of the industry as a whole.
Mr Tung’s contributions to the shipping industry in Hong Kong and around the world have been substantial. Mr. Tung was Chairman of The Hong Kong Shipowners’ Association from 1993-1995 and Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce from 1999–2001. Mr. Tung is currently a member of the Hong Kong Port Development Council and Hong Kong Logistics Development Council.
In other award categories, the Grand Alliance was awarded Best Container Shipping Alliance (members include Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad, NYK and OOCL).

The AFSCA event is one of the highlights of the Asian freight industry calendar. More than 12,500 readers of Cargonews Asia were polled in an online voting process to select the best service providers in the various award categories. Readers were asked to select winning organisations demonstrating qualities such as consistency in service, continuous innovation and customer relationship management.
