Switzerland's Mediterranean Shipping Company, rated the world's second largest container carrier after Maersk Line, has announced it is increasing its Suez Canal surcharge US$50 per TEU from April 15.
Considering the persisting economic recession and the significant reduction of the trade, with lower vessels utilisations, MSC regrets to inform customers that it is necessary to partially turn to the cargo the onerous charges for transiting the Suez Canal, said a company statement.
