Maersk Line revises service and increases rates

Maersk Line announced the introduction of a Pipavav (India) call on its ME3 service in Europe - Middle
East & South Asia network. The Pipavav call will provide its customers with new opportunities in the North India market.
Benefits include:
- Direct service between North India and the Mediterranean
- Shorter inland haulage transit time to and from North India
- Cheaper haulage to and from North India
- Together with the existing ME1 (North Europe product) the Pipavav call extends coverage in this growing market
- Direct Intra-Gulf product by offering a connection to and from Jebel Ali
The new rotation is: Gioia Tauro (Italy), Algeciras (Spain), Tangier (Morocco), Tarragona (Spain), Gioia Tauro (Italy), Port Said (Egypt), Salalah (Oman), Jebel Ali (U.A.E.), Pipavav (India), Nhava Sheva (India), Jebel Ali (U.A.E.), and Port Said (Egypt).
First vessel to call Pipavav is the Nedlloyd Drake estimated to arrive 6 April 2009. This enhancement complements the changes, Maersk Line announced on the 25 February.

Maersk Line announced a general rate increase in Mediterranean/North America trade, effective 15 April 2009.
The increase applies only to the commodity synthetic resin.
The filed increase is as follows:
- USD 100 per 20' dry container / 40' container / high cube / 45' container
The increase applies from all origin points in USA & Canada to all destinations in the Mediterranean and North Africa.
