Rickmers-Linie said it would add an additional vessel to its round-the-world pearl string breakbulk and heavy-lift service.
The company said it had chartered for two years the 30,000-deadweight-ton Cape Darby, which it said was a near sister" to the ships currently in the service.
The vessel will be renamed Rickmers Houston before being phased into service in Southeast Asia in June or July. The company said the additional vessel would allow it to offer customers additional capacity and improve frequency 14 to 11 days.
