The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI), in association with Hull & Hatch Lines Ltd (H&H), commenced its new service from India to the Red Sea on February 1, Exim News Service reported.
Starting from Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP), the service calls at Mundra and proceeds directly to various ports in the Red Sea.
It has the following port rotation: JNP, Mundra, Djibouti, Aden/Hodeidah, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Aqaba, JNP.
Two vessels, with an average capacity of 1,350 TEUs, operate on the route on a 12-day frequency.
In addition to catering to the Indian Subcontinent, this service will also integrate SCI’s existing services from Europe, the Far East and Middle East connecting to Red Sea ports, explains a release.
SCI Trust was the first vessel under the service to call at JNP. At a brief function held on board the vessel, Capt. Anand Chopra, Senior Vice-President of SCI, presented a memento to Capt. Laano, Master of the vessel.
